Representing economic development interests of the City of Cornwall, the counties of Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry and Akwesasne, the Cornwall & The Counties Community Futures Development Corporation (C&C CFDC) has the perfect opportunity for an individual having a passion for economic development and business mentorship.
As the organization’s senior staff person, we are looking for a self-directed and energetic Executive Director having demonstrated leadership, management, and interpersonal skills – someone who is equally at ease in the boardroom, on a client site, or administering a funding application.
Responsible to the Chair and Board of Directors, the Executive Director administers the business of the organization, manages a variety of economic development initiatives, and designs and implements his/her own agenda to achieve the objectives and mandate of the corporation.
This is an on-going, multi-year, full-time position located in the Cornwall area having reliance on a team of four staff members.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- The Executive Director generally works in an office environment.
- The standard work week is 35 hours, Monday to Friday.
- Probationary period of 3-6 months.
- Occasional evening, weekend, and overtime hours are required to accommodate activities including, but not limited to: Board meetings, representing the organization at public events and out of town travel.
COMPENSATION:
- Base salary + benefits including OMERS pension contribution.
- Funding Commitment to March 31, 2018 with the expectation of renewal.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Degree or specialization in business, commerce, economics, law, or public administration.
- Bilingualism – English & French.
- Not less than seven (7) years progressively responsible management experience.
- Minimum experience of two (2) years as a department head overseeing budgets, staffing and operational elements.
- Minimum experience of two (2) years working with Boards of Directors and/or Committees of the Board.
- Understanding and appreciation of the construct, obligations, and opportunities of not-for-profits and local CFDCs.
- Philosophy of continuous improvement and quality management.
- Not-for-profit exposure, economic development experience, commercial loans and investments expertise, and banking knowledge deemed as significant assets.
- Accounting designation (CPA), MBA, or licensure to practice law shall be considered as significant assets.
- Experience with media and branding initiatives considered an asset.
- Executive level experience and exposure considered an asset.
SKILLS:
- Ability to lead and to motivate staff and colleagues.
- Ability to negotiate, to collaborate, and to solicit confidence.
- Excellent analytical, time management, and problem solving skills.
- Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to conceptualize and to deal with complexity.
- Proficiency in the use of computers and current software applications – preferably Word, Excel, and Outlook.
