Marlene Street Resource Centre (MSRC) is a community centre in St. Vital, Winnipeg, located in a Manitoba Housing complex. We are seeking a Male Program Facilitator. This is a term contract position for 5 hours/week at $12.00 per hour starting September 17, 2015 until December 18, 2015. The hours for this position will be Thursday and Friday, 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm.
The Male Program Facilitator will plan and facilitate the weekly afterschool Boys Club program at MSRC, as well as the weekly Guys on the Go program in partnership with Lavallee School. Duties include but not limited to: planning and delivering programs to kids and youth and providing frontline leadership and mentorship to children and youth.
Requirements:
- Experience working with children and youth, as well as relating to and/or communicating with parents
- Experience working with children and youth living in challenging socio-economic circumstances; experience with children and youth who have behavioral issues
- Experience with youth programming
- Knowledge and understanding of multicultural issues and demonstrated skills working cross culturally
- Criminal record check, child abuse registry check, CPR/First Aid certificate, or willingness to obtain them
Assets:
- Some education or degree pertaining to Youth Work, Education, Social Work or related field.
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Can work individually as well as cooperatively with others
- Creativity and willingness to think of new ways to enhance boys programs
- Background working with and supervising volunteers
