Local Investment Toward Employment (LITE) is a small charitable Foundation supporting initiatives that provide jobs and training opportunities to residents in Winnipeg's inner city. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced leader to serve as the organization's Executive Director. This is an exceptional opportunity for an individual who is passionate about social justice, the inner city, and Community Economic Development (CED), and has well-honed fundraising, financial management, and public speaking skills.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for achievement of LITE’s goals and implementing the strategic plan as set by the Board of Directors
- Provides overall leadership for the organization
- Achieve fundraising goals and oversee implementation of annual campaign
- Manages Human Resources, including recruitment, orientation, supervision, coaching, and overall support
- Administers disbursements including Purchases and CED Grants
- Manages finances including organizational and project budgets
- Acts as spokesperson for the organization (media, major donors, funders, major presentations)
- Proposal Writing and reporting to Funders
Education
- Post secondary
Qualifications
- Fundraising experience
- Experienced and comfortable with public relations
- Experience managing staff
- Demonstrates an understanding and commitment to Community Economic Development
- Experience working with a Board of Directors
- Experience setting up and managing budgets
- Proposal writing and grant reporting experience
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Effective public speaking and written communications
- Capable of building relationships with a wide variety of groups: business, funders, faith and community groups, and comfortable with asking for donations
- Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) as well as have used Facebook, Twitter and other social media.
- Experience using Quickbooks would be considered an asset
- Able to think strategically and meet simultaneous deadlines within tight timeframes
- Experience working in the not-for-profit sector would be an asset
- Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle are assets
- A criminal record check may be required

Position details: 35 hrs/wk, salary in the $ 40,000 range. Employee benefit plan, 4 weeks vacation per year. Paid time off for the days between Christmas and New Year.
LITE’s office is in the Social Enterprise Centre, co-located with other dynamic and cutting edge organizations, in the Point Douglas neighbourhood.
