Executive Director

You are here

Urban Matters is actively seeking an Executive Director for the Aboriginal Social Enterprise (ASE) Program. This once-in-a-lifetime role is for a very special person. If you’re passionate, unafraid of risk, flexible and care deeply about people and making the world a better place, then we should talk.

WHAT IS THE ASE PROGRAM?

The Aboriginal Social Enterprise Program (ASE) is a soon-to-launch program that’s all about supporting the entrepreneurial spark in Aboriginal communities throughout B.C.

Urban Matters wants to bring knowledgeable Aboriginal mentors into communities and connect them with entrepreneurs who would benefit from the program’s coaching, nurturing, advice, incubation and support.

ASE will be an “in-reach” program run for Aboriginal peoples, by Aboriginal people. Our ED and their eventual staff of five will travel to various communities throughout the province to bring on-location, one-on-one coaching and support to budding (possibly as yet unearthed) entrepreneurs.

Your mission, should you choose to accept, will be:

  • To prioritize the long-standing concept of social enterprise by sharing stories and experiences
  • To unearth budding social entrepreneurs, businesses and organizations
  • To guide individuals and organizations on the journey towards social enterprise
  • To support them through the early years of business launch with mentorship, and coaching

The ASE Program is clay waiting to be shaped. Over the past year, Urban Matters has been working toward formulating a business plan and creating partnerships. They are now ready to bring on a passionate ED (that's you) who will take the helm and turns this concept into a thriving social enterprise. On its journey to self-sustainability, the ASE program will be incubated by Urban Matters and have all of the support and resources our team can offer.

ABOUT YOU

Energetic, sharp as a tack and full of ideas.  You will  breathe life into this program. You’re savvy and experienced in business but not afraid of the unchartered waters of a start-up. Heck, that even excites you. Others have described you as a natural leader and relationship-builder as well as an empathetic listener. Dirty hands and several different hats suit you. With an MBA in your back pocket and great connections in the Aboriginal community, you know you can present this program with respect, care, love, understanding and patience.

Urban Matters is working hard to change the world for the better and they need you.

So let's get to it!
