Gang Action Interagency Network - Inventory and Mapping Coordinator

The Gang Action Interagency Network (GAIN) is looking to hire for the Inventory and Mapping coordinator position which is 37.5 hours per week. GAIN is looking for someone to create a functional and user friendly database with all youth services for Winnipeg and turn that database into website and app that youth, parents, social workers etc. may access to find local resources for youth in the City of Winnipeg. This position will be responsible for researching and collecting data, developing database and bringing in the appropriate partners to develop the website and app. This position is a one year term.

Primary responsibilities include:

  1. Research resource information for the Website and Mobile App:
    • Work with Website and Mobile App programmers and designers.
    • Develop a database to hold all information about Winnipeg based youth programs, hours of operations, contact information and locations.
    • Ensure that this database is an appropriate e-platform for the Website and Mobile App.
    • Collect and enter information in the database from various Winnipeg based non profit agencies.
    • Create a mechanism to allow this information to be searched and posted.
  2. Curate resource information for the Website and Mobile App
    • Continue working with Website and Mobile App programmers and designers.
    • Develop a tracking system that collects information on the type of searches completed by users (e.g. resource used).
    • Create an evaluation form for Website and Mobile App users including when to implement the user evaluation.
    • Organize the content and draft a layout of the web and mobile app by working together with the Website and Mobile App programmers and designers.
    • Test out the layout of the Website and Mobile App including its functions such as mapping and map searching.
    • Get feedback on the draft layout and incorporate them.
  3. Launch the Website and Mobile App
    • Advertise the Website and Mobile App
    • Create a presentation/brochure or video on how to navigate the Website and Mobile App to Gang Action Interagency Network (GAIN) members, other service providers and potential users
    • Launch the Website and Mobile App to GAIN members, other service providers and potential users
  4. Strategize how to maintain the Website and Mobile App
    • Continue to work with Website and Mobile App programmers and designers
    • Provide initial technical support for GAIN members and initial information about info searches to GAIN members
    • Create a procedure guide for GAIN members on Website and Mobile App maintenance, steps to update information, frequent questions and answers, tracking data information from searchers, evaluation and trouble- shooting issues.
    • Present and train GAIN committee on procedures.
    • Work with the GAIN coordinator and GAIN members to find private donors or businesses who will support the upkeep of the Website and Mobile App
  5. Develop a timeline for the user evaluation to be implemented including how often information searches will be collected.
  6. Collect user information and identify service gaps based on mapping and database.
  7. Develop a plan on how to address service gaps and how to better connect programs by geographical or service areas.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with Databases, surveys, and data collection
  • Strong computer and professional writing skills
  • Experience researching, including collecting data
  • Understanding of resources available to youth within Winnipeg
  • Enjoy working with a team and individually
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills

Assets:

  • Understanding of resources for youth in the city of Winnipeg
  • Technology skills and understanding of web sites and App's
  • Driver's licence and vehicle

Hours and remuneration:

The employee agrees to fulfill a 37.5 hour work week. GAIN agrees to pay $16/hr for a 37.5 hour work week on a bi-weekly schedule, with hours paid as worked. Required CPP, EI and tax deductions will be made and employer contributions will be paid. Responsibility may require flexible hours to be worked including support and resourcing staff in the overnight periods.
