I. Position Summary
The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for recruiting, training and placing volunteers to provide services to family caregivers of older adults in the City of Winnipeg. Performance of duties requires contact with public and private agencies providing services to seniors, caregivers and volunteers as well as extensive contact with the general public in promoting and publicising the program.
The position is funded by Support Services to Seniors, Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA). The organization is overseen by a Board of Directors.
II. Accountability
This full-time position reports directly to the Executive Director.
III. Education and Experience
Education and/or experience in the social sciences, communications or health care. Certificate in Volunteer Management would be an asset. Previous experience with older adults and with volunteers required. Public relations and/or marketing experience is an asset.
IV. Special Skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- Comfortable with public speaking and able to make group presentations.
- Computer skills required including proficiency in Microsoft Office software applications and experience with social media.
V. Specific Duties
The incumbent will work in collaboration with the Executive Director to perform duties in the following categories:
- Program
- Promote the program through public relations, education and recruitment activities.
- Assist the Executive Director with the intake and assessment of new clients.
- Volunteers
- Recruit volunteers to provide direct services to clients and other functions as required.
- Interview, perform background checks, and train new volunteers.
- Assist with placement of volunteers, including dispatching volunteer drivers.
- Follow the progress of the volunteer placements.
- Plan and prepare volunteer educational and appreciation events.
- Administration
- Maintain accurate statistical records.
- Answer incoming phone calls and provide information or referrals.
- Submit a written report of activities to the Board on a monthly basis.
- Ensure confidentiality of volunteer and client information.
- Support the work of the Volunteer/Public Relations committee as requested.
- Provide coverage for the Executive Director as required.
- Perform other duties as required
Caregiving with Confidence (formerly known as Rupert's Land Caregiver Services) is a non-profit organization providing support to family caregivers of older adults. We are accepting applications for the position of Volunteer Coordinator.
This is a full-time position – 35 hours per week. Must have use of a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
Salary Range - $14.00-$17.00 per hour and is commensurate with education and experience.
