The Canadian CED Network is seeking a dynamic, organized, and collaborative person with a strong understanding of community economic development, adult learning, and community engagement to fill the position of Events and Engagement Coordinator in our Manitoba regional office. This position contributes directly to CCEDNet-Manitoba’s sector strengthening activities and is a key staff person ensuring we engage with members and make connections to the broader sector. Responsible for identifying skill and knowledge needs through member engagement, you will use solid event planning and communication skills to create learning and networking events that meet those needs. You are a strong communicator that can contribute to good relationships and the provision of clear and accessible information about network activities.

About the Canadian CED Network

The Canadian CED Network (CCEDNet) is a values-based, non-profit organization committed to strengthening the social, economic, and environmental conditions of Canadian communities.  We have several hundred members throughout Canada working at the grassroots level in rural, urban, Aboriginal and northern settings. The Manitoba regional network is strong and active, with a staff team focusing on strengthening members’ skills and knowledge to build capacity, growing and using our collective voice to engage with the public and governments, and connecting community economic developers to each other and needed resources.

DUTIES INCLUDE

Reporting to the Manitoba Regional Director:

  • Plan, market, execute, evaluate, and report on CCEDNet – Manitoba’s learning events including:
    • Strengthening Non-Profits Workshops,
    • Planning for Your Organization’s Financial Sustainability Series,
    • Other events as required or requested by members.
    • Support for The Gathering (Note: this will be a team effort with a special event coordinator).
  • Ensure CCEDNet – Manitoba is engaging with its membership and the broader sector through:
    • Monitoring the Manitoba membership list and ensuring members are renewed and receiving benefits.
    • Recruiting new members and regularly engaging with existing members using a variety of means.
    • Coordinating the annual Spring Member Meeting and the event planning aspects of the Fall Policy Summit.
    • Supporting the Manitoba Regional Committee.
    • Responding to information requests from members and the broader sector.
    • Maintaining an open, welcoming space in the CCEDNet – Manitoba office with appropriate meeting and information or marketing resources that align with our online presence.
  • Collaborate with the Regional Director and other staff on strategic development of CCEDNet – Manitoba programming using a member-engagement and sector-strengthening lens.
  • Other related duties as they arise.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

  • Demonstrated experience with program coordination and/or event planning is necessary
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally (oral and written, for a variety of mediums and audiences)
  • Knowledge of and commitment to community economic development and social justice
  • Post-secondary education or a combination of relevant experience in a related field such as CED, non-profit administration, adult or community-based education, event planning, or communications
  • Organization and detail management skills are essential, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment
  • Marketing or communications experience an asset
  • Facilitation and governance experience an asset

Hours and Wage

This is a permanent, part-time position at 21 hours / week. The annual salary range is $21,159 - $24,893, commensurate with experience. Some evening or weekend hours may be required, as well as overtime at peak periods which is reconciled through compensatory time off when operationally possible.
