As part of the team at Winnipeg Harvest and working in support of and within the agency’s mission, goals, objectives, policies and procedures, the goal of this position is to ensure that there is a consistent and supportive relationship by proactively building and maintaining healthy relationships with Food Distribution Agencies in Winnipeg and Manitoba, who receive surplus food distributed by Winnipeg Harvest.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Agency Administrator

Responsibilities

Working in consultation and cooperation with the Agencies, Client Services, Public Education and Communications Teams, and all other departments as necessary to ensure that specific information is gathered for ALL associate food distribution agencies with respect to the work with Agencies.

The Agency Liaison is responsible for:

  • Playing a significant role in evaluating Food Distribution Agencies (agencies) and conducting site visits, accessing their food needs, monitoring and will engage in food program assessments of agencies.
  • Record tracking of agencies
  • Assisting with Winnipeg Harvest Registry and Self Registry Food Banks as needed and requested this includes Small Agency Delivery and Meal Snack Programs
  • Improving services to food banks and helping to build healthy relationships
  • Triaging and investigating agency/client complaints and record outcome measurements for all external complaints
  • Maintaining regular communication with Food Distribution Agencies through phone calls, visits, mailings and emailing.
  • Maintaining the “Food Security Package” to provide to all Agencies – i.e.: agency handbook and update files.
  • Direct agencies to appropriate community resources
  • Attend Team Meetings as required and attend community meetings as needed
  • Assist in rural visits as requested and support M.A.F.B as required
  • Recommend food bank training to those agencies in need of training
  • Acknowledging food bank anniversaries and coordinators retirements, or other significant milestones
  • Mentorship of volunteers, staff and interns as required

  • Good driving record and willingness to travel to visit with urban and rural Food Distribution Agencies—valid driver’s license is mandatory
  • Leadership skills and ability to lead meetings
  • Participation in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training and Safe Food Handling Certification course, or willingness to participate an asset.

Hours of Work: Full-time position, some evenings and weekends as required
