PROGRAM COORDINATOR, PROPERTY MAINTENANCE SOCIAL ENTERPRISE PILOT
The John Howard Society of the Lower Mainland is seeking an experienced, dedicated and customer-oriented professional for the full-time role of Program Coordinator on a contract term until June 1, 2018.
ROLE PURPOSE
Provide oversight and direction to the day-to-day work required by the social enterprise pilot project that will deliver property maintenance services and provide supported employment opportunities for individuals who have had involvement with the criminal justice system.
REPORTING
The Program Coordinator will report to our Program Manager, Property Maintenance Social Enterprise Pilot.
STATUS
This position requires union membership.
LOCATION
Based out of Vancouver and Surrey office with regular travel to JHSLM sites across the Lower Mainland.
HOURS
Monday to Friday, 0830 to 1630, 40 hours per week. Hours are flexible as determined by operational needs and program requirements.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provide input into the maintenance and repair needs at the JHSLM owned properties that can be addressed by the program participants, based on their level of skill and experience.
- Complete and deliver job updates and reports to the Program Manager upon completion of each job and as required.
- Provide direct input into the design and development of the key processes and systems to identify, schedule, deliver and evaluate the work, both from a customer and program participant perspective.
- Ensure program participants are kept updated and engaged through ongoing communication.
- Ensure that all work done at each site meets all relevant regulatory requirements such as OHS (Occupational Health & Safety) requirements.
- To provide supervision, coaching and support to program participants throughout the pilot project.
QUALIFICATIONS
You are a highly motivated individual with a proven ability to work within a fast-paced, growth-focused environment. You will possess:
- Experience with a social enterprise that provides supported employment for individuals with barriers to employment.
- Strong supervision experience with proven ability to manage and coordinate a work team
- Significant and recent experience with property/building maintenance (ie. 2 years or more)
- Familiarity with relevant codes, legislation and standards related to buildings (both residential and commercial) would be an asset
- Degree, diploma and/or trade certificate in a relevant discipline or an acceptable combination of education, training and experience
- Valid driver’s license and access to personal vehicle and flexibility to travel throughout the Lower Mainland (from Vancouver to Abbotsford)
- Strong communication skills (listening, verbal and written)
- Ability to satisfy the requirements of our funders in regards to previous criminality as deemed necessary.
- Strong desire to work within the Social Services sector, and be a part of the John Howard Society team.
START DATE:
July 4, 2017 (or sooner should a suitable candidate be available)
SALARY:
Ranges from $22.93 to $26.69 per hour as per collective agreement
