Community Food Facilitator
Food Matters Manitoba is seeking a permanent full time Community Food Facilitator. The Community Food Facilitator works with Food Matters Manitoba’s programs in Northern Manitoba and Winnipeg.
Responsibilities:
- Plan community food programs by consulting community partners and participating in operational work planning.
- Assist communities and school programs with their food activities including gardening, cooking, traditional food practices, preserving and raising livestock.
- Provide logistical support for travel, event coordination and shipping materials in northern Manitoba.
- Create training materials including lesson plans, presentations, factsheets and posters focused on producing food.
- Develop and facilitate training opportunities that are relevant to community partner’s needs.
- Nurture strong relationships with project partners, First Nations governments, and other key partners to enhance project implementation.
- Ensure the completion of visit reports, conduct surveys and facilitate focus groups to help evaluate program impacts.
- Support the fundraising and communications by sharing stories from community development work.
- Visit program partner sites throughout northern Manitoba to identify and deliver supports for community development.
About You:
- Have experience with community development and community economic development
- Strong understanding of Indigenous food sovereignty and food security in northern Manitoba.
- Have experience developing and maintaining community partnerships.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and organizational skills.
- Experience with evaluation is an asset.
- Ability to travel approximately 5 days per month in Northern Manitoba.
- Ability to speak a local Indigenous language is an asset.
- Self-motivated and a strong team player.
- A valid driver’s license.
