Employment Development and Human Relations Coach
About the Role
We are seeking and individual who has experience working with the Indigenous community, and who understands and embraces the Indigenous culture and ways of being. The Employment Development and Human Relations Coach will be responsible for the delivery of the Human Relations program, and Employment Development for Indigenous female students including support, curriculum development, lesson planning and delivery. This includes instructing course material, creating assignments, and grading. In addition, this role will provide instruction in job readiness skills, ongoing direction and support in locating, placing and monitoring students in their work practicum placements. You will also provide student support throughout program participation and post exit support while employed and seeking employment.

- You have experience instructing lessons on teamwork, communications, problem solving, cultural diversity, goal setting, time management, and other employability skills.
- You have experience planning and building programs and implementing the plan.
- You have the ability to create a positive learning environment, and know how to encourage and motivate participants to accomplish their educational and personal goals.
- You know how to work with adults with multiple barriers and diverse learning needs.
- You have experience preparing and delivering lesson plans, marking assignments, and report writing, and you can oversee student academic progress.
- You know how to assess participant’s needs for additional support, and can make referrals to appropriate community resources.
- You have a solid understanding of issues related to Indigenous Peoples experiences and trauma/colonization issues.
What You Bring
- University degree or relevant post-secondary education preferred and two (2) year directly related to work experience.
- Life Skills Coach Certification
- Computer skills including ability to use excel worksheets, word-processing, and email at a highly proficient level.
- You have great interpersonal skills in communication, listening and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- You are a good problem solver and know how to make sound decisions.
- You are honest, trustworthy, and respectful and know how to be a positive role model for the participants.
- You are able to respond and adapt to changes and challenges as they occur and you have the ability to implement sound working solutions in a timely manner.
- An understanding of the Indigenous economic, cultural and political environments

The Wage Range for this position is $19.00 - $21.00 per hour
