Social Enterprise & Entrepreneurship Northern Region Partnership
The Project Coordinator shall facilitate and contribute to the development and integration of resources and services to further support the development of social enterprises and social entrepreneurs across the region. They will coordinate SEE staff capacity building activities, project development, work plans in meeting project objectives and attaining project deliverables. The Project Coordinator shall foster partner engagement in resource development and training, and coordinate and expand relationships between social enterprises and social entrepreneurs, funders, angel investors and others. Long-term sustainability of the project will be a special focus for the Project Coordinator. Under the direction of the Acting Director of NORDIK and in collaboration with the Steering Committee, the Project Coordinator will be responsible for:
- Participating in recruitment, hiring, and training and project staff;
- Overseeing project staff, progress on work plans (ensuring all project deliverables are met in a timely fashion), and allocation of resources;
- Providing support to regional interns as necessary;
- Dissemination of resources and materials developed by the Social Enterprise Development Specialists to partners and ONE members;
- Coordinating staff orientation, travel and training for project staff;
- Coordinating and providing administrative support to the Steering Committee & Learning Circle meetings;
- Coordinating the partnership – identifying partner needs, where partners have issues, keeping everyone informed and abreast of opportunities to reach out to ONE members and SEs;
- Facilitating the development of the ONE member network expansion between members and with Francophone and Indigenous communities for training opportunities;
- Overseeing recruitment and management of the on-line peer mentoring network;
- Collaborating with ONE SEP providers in establishing peer mentoring circles;
- Collaborating with ONE SEP southern consortia;
- Overseeing project budget;
- Liaising with funders of the project to meet reporting requirements and as needed;
- Drafting all reports to funders;
- Seeking partnerships and funding opportunities for the long-term sustainability of the project;
- Attending research meetings and other training workshops provided by NORDIK and university faculty and staff.
Qualifications and Requirements:
The candidate shall demonstrate previous experience in collaborative project leadership within the Social Economy sector, including budget and staff management. A demonstrated knowledge of Community Economic Development, Social Entrepreneurship, and social entrepreneurship and social enterprise development in rural, Northern and First Nation communities is required. The candidate shall possess the following skills:
- Strong communication skills including excellent written and verbal skills and a high degree of comfort in a technology-mediated environment;
- Financial management and proposal writing;
- Experience working with diverse strata in society, including business and economic development as well as those engaged in the social economy;
- Staff management and supervision;
- Networking and interpersonal skills;
- Knowledge of First Nations and Indigenous communities;
- Post-secondary graduate, ideally in CESD or another Social Science;
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a team environment;
- Strong organizational time management skills;
- Experience in event planning and organizing preferred;
- Bilingualism is preferred.
Position Status:
35 hours/week; externally-funded 1-year position. This position requires travel throughout Northern Ontario.
