Who we are:

CSED is a not for profit organization that supports organizations whose primary objective is to drive systemic social change.

We offer a continuum of support for social enterprise in the city of Ottawa, including access to technical expertise, coaching, financing, learning communities, training, and cross-sector partnerships. To date, we have worked with hundreds of clients developing their social enterprise plans and providing them with the tools, strategies, and support to perpetuate positive social change and grow profitably.

From our inception as a collaboration between community partners to our current status as a federally incorporated not-for-profit, CSED continues to build a strong ecosystem of supports for social enterprises at all stages of development throughout the Ottawa region.

Your Role:

The role of the Executive Director focuses on five critical areas: (1) leadership and guidance of a dynamic team; (2) short-term and long-term operational and strategic planning; (3) human resource planning and management; (4) financial planning, fund development and risk management; (5) community relations and advocacy to establish and enhance the status of CSED locally, regionally, provincially and federally, including establishing a network throughout the business community to enhance and support the visibility and positioning of CSED in the corporate world.

The Executive Director is responsible for the successful leadership and management of the organization according to the strategic direction set together with the Board of Directors. Serving as the chief advocate for CSED, the incumbent works with others in the team in guiding the organization towards its strategic goals to support and advance the overall vision and brand of the CSED while helping strengthen and grow the social enterprise sector in Ottawa. The Executive Director also works to build and foster relationships within the social enterprise sector with the overall objective of establishing and advancing the reputation and standing of CSED as well as promoting the interface between the different stakeholders in the social enterprise eco-system.

Your Qualities

CSED’s Executive Director is a creative but pragmatic strategic thinker with strong managerial follow-through, and implementation skills along with proven marketing and networking talents. He/she has advanced consultative, facilitation and decision-making skills. The incumbent also has exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to perform in an advocacy role together with a proven ability to perform effectively in a team-based culture.
