Who we are:
CSED is a not for profit organization that supports organizations whose primary objective is to drive systemic social change.
We offer a continuum of support for social enterprise in the city of Ottawa, including access to technical expertise, coaching, financing, learning communities, training, and cross-sector partnerships. To date, we have worked with hundreds of clients developing their social enterprise plans and providing them with the tools, strategies, and support to perpetuate positive social change and grow profitably.
From our inception as a collaboration between community partners to our current status as a federally incorporated not-for-profit, CSED continues to build a strong ecosystem of supports for social enterprises at all stages of development throughout the Ottawa region.
Your Role:
The role of the Director of Sector Development focuses on four critical areas: (1) thought leadership and governance; (2) design, development and delivery of programs; (3) performance evaluation and reporting; (4) community relations and advocacy.
The Director of Sector Development reports to the Executive Director and supports CSED’s overall role as a social enterprise sector intermediary and leads efforts aimed at strengthening the social enterprise sector in Ottawa. The incumbent takes a leadership role in CSED, while balancing the needs of CSED’s diverse stakeholders and plays a core role in capacity building efforts of CSED. Working within the above focus areas, the Director of Sector Development supports the development and effective mobilization of CSED’s network of partners; funding proposals development; and supports knowledge, decision-making and project execution to enable the accelerated transformation of the social enterprise sector. In the absence of the Executive Director, as a member of the management team, the Director of Sector Development is called upon to be directly responsible for the day-to-day operations of CSED.
Your Qualities:
CSED’s Director of Sector Development has a strong background and experience in program design with focus on design, implementation and evaluation. He/she can assess situations to determine the importance, urgency and risks, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization. The incumbent has strong experience in setting priorities, developing work schedules, monitoring progress towards goals, and tracking details, data, information and activities. Skills in human relations (interpersonal relationships), communications (both written and verbal), consultation, problem solving, public relations, group dynamics, and public speaking are also required.
