Make Poverty History Manitoba invites you to attend the launch of Winnipeg Without Poverty: Calling on the City to Lead. The launch is taking place on May 2 at 9:30am at the Magnus Eliason Recreation Centre.
This community-based poverty reduction plan for Winnipeg consists of 50 policy recommendations that the City of Winnipeg can implement. The plan has been endorsed by more than 90 organizations from across the city.
The plan is based on consultations with people who have experienced poverty as well as organizations that work alongside them. It is also based on a review of best practices from other Canadian jurisdictions that have developed municipal poverty reduction plans.
Make Poverty History Manitoba’s goal is to have the City of Winnipeg use the community plan as a basis for developing a Winnipeg poverty reduction strategy.
The event is free and there will be light refreshments served.
