Child Care Assistant

Ka Ni Kanichihk is looking to find that special someone who has an outgoing personality, experience working with children with different abilities, and a solid ability to connect with children. We strive to incorporate all aspects of our Indigenous culture into our daily programming, and in all program areas (play based curriculum including music, art, literature, physical activity, personal hygiene and healthy eating). Our center is currently licensed for 16 spaces with 4 infant and 12 preschool aged children. This is a term position until December 2018, however there is a possibility of an extension.

What we offer:

•  Work hours are between 8:30am to 5:00pm, Monday through Friday (40 hours per week)
• Smaller group working environment and enhanced staff to child ratios
• A friendly and supportive team environment
• Wage $11.15 per hour with one hour paid meal break

• Child Care Assistant classification (from MELCC)
• 40 hour child development course recognized by MELCC
• Current First Aid and CPR training (Level C)
• A new Self-Criminal Record Check with vulnerable sector search completed
• A new Self-Child Abuse Registry Check with vulnerable sector search completed
• Experience working with children with supportive requirements is not necessary but an asset and experience in daily care of children,
