Since 2010 The WRENCH has utilized volunteer labour and bike parts reclaimed from the waste stream to create a wide variety of community bike projects aimed at educating youth, empowering volunteers and providing people with affordable, sustainable active transportation. We envision a world where everyone is empowered to experience their community by bicycle.
The WRENCH is a registered charity that creates stronger, healthier communities by removing barriers to building, repairing and maintaining bicycles - with a focus on educating youth. We make bikes accessible:
- Providing programming, education and resources for community members and organizations
- Supporting school and community bike shops
- Promoting bicycle use
We are seeking an Administrative Assistant to assist the Managing Director with the day to day operations of The WRENCH.
Job Description
Duties:
- Financial management support
- Petty cash & bank deposits
- Payroll & associated duties
- Bill payment & invoicing
- Monitoring and recording expenditures
- Communications
- First point of client contact - answering general inquiry phone calls and emails. Greeting walk-in visitors during off hours
- Maintaining and updating website and social media platforms
- Data & information management
- Processing/updating metrics
- Maintaining databases
- Establishing and maintaining digital collaboration platform
- Storing, organizing and managing files
- Typing, editing and proofreading documents.
- Recording and disseminating meeting minutes.
- Human resources assistance
- Benefits program administration
- Staff wellness & self-care program development
- General support
- Managing office equipment and supplies
- Provide support for programming and special events
- Assist with special projects as assigned
- Program material sourcing and procurement
- Other duties as needed
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
- Familiarity with the community bike shop model
- Relevant Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Two years of related administrative assistant experience
- Ability to adapt to a changing environment and handle multiple priorities
- Awareness and sensitivity to issues of marginalization (sexism, racism, classism) and cultural diversity
- Knowledge of community based youth serving organizations
Skills
- Excellent writing and analytical skills
- The ability to self-direct, prioritize and meet deadlines
- Excellent interpersonal communication and conflict management skills
- Expertise with Microsoft Office Suite and data base management
- Experience working with Sage accounting software
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suit
- Experiencing creating and managing local office computer networks
- Experience establishing and maintaining digital collaboration platforms for small businesses
- Experience maintaining websites and social media platforms
