Position: Children In Care Coordinator
Classification: Full-Time TERM to December 2020
Location: 445 King Street
Salary: Subject to Qualifications
Background: The Ma Mawi Wi Chi Itata Centre, Inc. is seeking an individual for the position of Children In Care Coordinator. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the administration, operational and training needs are being met to further enhance the quality of care children and youth receive within the care of our residential sites.
General Responsibility: To enhance the Centre’s capacity to respond to general and child specific issues regarding the needs of children within the care of the Centre’s residential homes. Ensuring the Residential facilities meet the standards. Must be able to update all policy manuals and Residential handbooks, respond to external resources in a timely manner.
Qualifications:
- Post secondary education in the area of Human Services or acceptable equivalent / related experience;
- Working knowledge of the Child Welfare Legislation and Standards specifically in the area of Residential policies and regulations;
- Knowledge of the Child and Family Services Authorities as well as the Aboriginal Justice Inquiry-Child Welfare Initiative and the resulting changes in child welfare;
- Strong analytical skills, excellent interpersonal and communication skills and strong organizational and consultative skills;
- Demonstrated skill/experience in developing and maintaining an effective working relationship with Indigenous and Non-Indigenous, non-mandated organizations;
- Strong understanding of community based models of practice;
- Strong motivational and leadership skills;
- Team player/facilitator that encourages an environment fostering effective results in teams;
- Provide leadership to make change, implementing processes and provide strategic direction;
- Communicate effectively in verbal and written form, including effective use of computer software such as Microsoft Word, Excel and electronic mail;
- Ability to set and meet deadlines;
- Ability to implement program polices and protocols;
- Mentor teams to achieve their potential;
- Understanding of Indigenous values and community issues;
- Subject to Criminal Record Check, Child Abuse Registry and Prior Contact Checks;
- Must have access to a vehicle and valid Manitoba Drivers License.
