About Making Women Count
The CCPA’s Making Women Count research program reflects the organization’s commitment to building a program of research on and policy solutions to the gender gap in Canada. The project works in collaboration with women’s groups and gender equality organizations to identify areas where women are facing barriers to their personal and economic security. The project conducts policy-relevant research on those barriers and the most effective policy interventions available to address gender inequality, especially for those groups that experience the greatest barriers.

Job Responsibilities
Under the supervision of a Senior Researcher, the Fellowship holder will participate in the development of a Gender Budget Portal and produce related public policy materials for publication. Tasks include:
- Developing a framework and sitemap for the Gender Budget Portal and undertaking research to identify relevant materials and resources in various formats.
- Participating in the design and production of the website in collaboration with the CCPA communications team taking into consideration the needs of different audiences.
- Supporting the administration and governance of the project (e.g., convening the Steering Committee, etc.)
- Planning, researching, writing needed website text; identifying, generating and presentingrelevant statistical information.
- Creating a web content calendar for future development and updates.
- Developing a promotional kit for the launch of the Gender Budget Portal.
- Producing additional gender policy research for publication by the CCPA (e.g., blog posts,magazine articles, op eds, briefs)
Skills and Experience Required
The CCPA encourages applications from students or graduates with strong writing, research, and communication skills and a keen interest in public policy and gender equality. The successful candidate will be:
- Familiar with progressive public policy in Canada and intersectional feminist perspectives;
- Experienced in social science research, and comfortable in working with statistical information(in MS Excel) and in community outreach and engagement;
- An excellent writer who is able to synthesize complex ideas and policy information;
- Familiarity with Wordpress, Drupal, and/or Craft CMS;
- An excellent organizer capable of working with a team on tight deadlines;
- Knowledge of national and regional women’s organizations an asset.
Contract Details
The position will require on average five full days (35 hours) a week, for 12 weeks. The scheduling and distribution of hours may vary from week to week according to the needs of the project. The 12 weeks will be completed between May 11, 2020 and August 28, 2020. The successful candidate will be responsible for tracking and managing work hours in conjunction with the project supervisor.
The contract will require the fellow to work at the National CCPA offices in person in Ottawa. The successful candidate will be provided with a workstation at the Ottawa office.
The fellowship will pay $17.31 per hour, plus 4% vacation pay, for a maximum of 420 hours.
