System Navigator Project Manager

The Council of Canadians with Disabilities (CCD), which promotes an accessible and inclusive Canada, seeks a highly skilled, dynamic service innovator, manager and leader, who will be responsible for implementing a project to test a new model for a key disability-related service, system navigation which will assist people with disabilities way-find though the complex disability income and service system.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

RESEARCH

Overseeing research, including an environmental scan, to inform the development of a navigator service model to be tested. Overseeing feasibility studies concerning components of the navigator service, the pilot test of the navigator project and an evaluation of the project.

TOOL DEVELOPMENT

Overseeing the development of project tools, such as data collection tools, and a curriculum for system navigators.

CAPACITY BUILDING

Developing and nurturing mechanisms (Advisory Group) that will ensure input into and guidance for the project by both those with experiential knowledge and subject matter expertise; developing project allies; developing and implement a plan for sustainability.

Testing

Undertaking the project’s test of the model that is developed.

ADMINISTRATION/MANAGEMENT

Developing and implementing project work plans, including for evaluation; preparation of required reports for project’s funders; recruit, hire and supervise research and evaluation staff/ contractors; budget management; preparation of funding applications to promote sustainability of on-going system navigation; organize the project’s required meetings (face-to-face and teleconference) ensuring accessibility and inclusiveness.  

The successful candidate will have:

A proven track record in managing social sciences research, project and budget management and strong verbal and written communication skills.  Experiential knowledge of disability is preferred, as is proficiency in both official languages.
