Summary and Background
The mission of the Fair Finance Fund is: to mobilize equitable and accessible capital for Ontario's food and farm enterprises that create social, environmental and economic benefits.
The Fair Finance Fund (“Fund”) isa non-profit social finance fund dedicated to providing loans and mentorship services to local food and farm enterprises that value strong local food systems, local economies, and a healthy planet.
Position summary
The Northern Social Finance Coordinatoris part of the team implementing and expanding the Fair Finance Fund, which includes the Project Manager, the Southern Coordinator, the Communications Coordinator, and the Board. This position is responsible for lending administration as well as general outreach, social enterprise support and project implementation in their region. The position is supervised by the Project Manager.
The Coordinator will provide input and expertise to manage and administer the lending program, develop new policies and procedures as needed, respond to external trends in lending, provide input to fund managers on these trends and support the loan applicants through the application process. They will also participate in outreach, communications and networking with partners, potential clients and allies in northern Ontario, both virtually and in-person as COVID safety guidelines permit.
Timeline: The contract will begin as soon as possible and is funded to June 20, 2021 with annual budget approval and with probable extension based on funding. The expectation is for full-time or close to full-time availability.
Project Budget
The budget for this contract is in a range depending on experience and other considerations and will be commensurate with that experience. Please note standard daily rates in the application.
Qualifications
Important qualifications include:
- Ability to work well with others with patience, tolerance and a willingness to consider others’ opinions
- Ability to work with a supervisor as well as independently
- Expertise in financial management practices and business development
- Experience of community lending and social finance preferred
- Knowledge of the local food and farm sector
- Experience with presentations, network development and outreach
- Able to work with spreadsheets, cloud-based document sharing, loan software
- Willingness to travel
- Experience with non-profits and social enterprises
- Knowledge of a second language, preferably French, is an asset
- Successful applicants will have access to a home office, preferably in northern Ontario.
