The Co-operative Enterprise Council is looking to hire a dynamic young person to coordinate a special 26-week project that will engage youth aged 15-30 in designing online training that meets a variety of interests, needs and learning styles. The Youth Learning and Engagement Design (LED) Coordinator will work with a team of other staff and youth from diverse backgrounds to identify online and digital techniques and approaches that appeal to youth including gamification, experiential learning, outdoor education and other activities that keep young people fully engaged. They will also help develop training and programs based on key findings and will be responsible to coordinate activities of the youth involved in the committee. They will also assist with communications and prepare reports and presentations on the outcomes and progress of the project.
Desired skills and qualifications
The ideal candidate will have relevant education and experience in youth engagement and programming and will possess strong technical skills and an understanding of how digitization is used in the context of learning and engagement. They must be able to facilitate group meetings and manage a diversity of interests and learning styles.
The Youth LED Coordinator will be reliable, organized, and able to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. They will have good interpersonal, communication and leadership skills and be comfortable working with people of all ages, cultures and socio-economic backgrounds. This is a virtual position and does not require in person meetings or travel so applicants from across Atlantic Canada are welcome to apply.
This work experience placement is part of the CreateAction Inclusive Social Innovation program and funded by the Government of Canada. The successful candidate will be part of a network of 25 CreateAction participants and will join in regular peer learning and training sessions throughout the 6-month work experience, delivered by the program partners: the Canadian CED Network and the National Association of Friendship Centres.
Candidates must meet the following criteria:
- be between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at start of placement;
- be a Canadian citizen, or permanent resident or a protected person as defined by the
- Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
- be legally entitled to work in Canada;
- be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial/territorial legislation and
- regulations; and
- be experiencing one or more barriers to employment; and/or
- be not in education, employment, or training (NEET).
Term and Salary: This position is for a 26-week period from Jan 11 - July 9, 2021. Salary is $18- $20 per hour depending upon qualifications.
