This position and project responds to the need for creating environments which foster retention and a greater sense of belonging among newcomers in Atlantic Canada. The goal of this project is to contribute to sector resilience and adaptability by building capacity in Social Research & Development and outcomes measurement among project partners.

Roles and Responsibilities

Specifically the Project Co-Lead will do this by work with the ARAISA Project Co-lead to:

  • Engage sector participants in training
  • Provide ongoing support and coaching to stakeholder participants
  • Work with a developmental evaluator
  • Share knowledge and lessons learned
  • Implement monitoring and evaluation of programming
  • Lead strategy and implementation of the partnership
  • Develop and facilitate programming for settlement practitioners throughout Atlantic Canada

Responsibilities

The following activities is a summary of activities to be undertaken:

Activity Areas

  • A. Project planning and management
    • Recruit and select participants
    • Develop work plans, timelines, implementation and evaluation strategies in collaboration with project partners
    • Engage and liaise with a third-party project evaluator
  • B. Team leadership
    • Assist participants to conduct scan of promising practices and lessons learned
    • Provide ongoing support and coaching
    • Manage risk & supporting a psychologically and physically safe working environment
  • C. Financial/budget management
    • Monitor spending and cash flow related to project expenditures for staff & participants, including financial forecasting
    • Follow financial policies and procedures, including submitting monthly expense reports
  • D. Communications, internal relations, evaluation, and reporting
    • Develop, sustain, and work in collaboration to evaluate project partnerships
    • Develop and facilitate training
    • Conduct a baseline assessment
    • Develop a communications and stakeholder engagement plan
  • E. Cross-Organizational learning & teamwork
    • Participate in and contribute to the culture and growth of Inspiring Communities
    • Share learnings between organizations
    • Other responsibilities, duties, and needs may arise throughout the duration of the project.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate:

  • Is a graduate of a post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field of health & social sciences or 5-10 years demonstrated experience in community development
  • Has a minimum 3-5 years of experience in community development, non-profit leadership, social innovation and research & development, and/or project management
  • is experienced working in the newcomer, immigrant, and refugee settlement sector
  • is able to read, write, and communicate in English. Preference given to those who can also read, write, and communicate in French
  • is passionate about social justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion
  • Preference will be given to candidates who have lived experience as a newcomer, immigrant, or refugee to Canada.

Benefits

This is a term position to March 31, 2024, with the possibility of extension. There is a three month probationary period, after which a performance review will determine next steps. Following the probationary period, the individual will have semi-annual reviews, including a learning & PD plan.

Compensation

The starting salary will be commensurate with education and experience, up to an initial annual maximum of $30/hour for 35 hours per week, up to $54,600 per year. The compensation package includes cost-shared medical and dental benefits, a professional development allowance, and a phone allowance.

Hours

The Project Co-Lead maintains standard office hours with occasional evenings and weekends, as required, to accommodate meetings, training, and events. The position may require travel throughout Atlantic Canada.
