The Canadian Community Economic Development Network (CCEDNet) is seeking a Program and Engagement Manager. This is a term position that will report to the Director of Engagement, supporting CCEDNet’s youth experience program, CreateAction.

ABOUT THE CREATEACTION PROGRAM

CreateAction provides employment and career-relevant learning opportunities to youth (15-30 years old) not in education, employment or training (NEET) and facing barriers to employment. The program engages employers from across Canada to hire youth in positions related to community economic development and social innovation.

To deliver the program, the Canadian Community Economic Development Network (CCEDNet) and the National Association of Friendship Centres (NAFC) are working in partnership with funding by Employment and Social Development Canada and with evaluation support from the Social Research and Demonstration Corporation.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Program and Engagement Manager

  • Updates and maintains data management systems related to youth and employers’ engagement in the program
  • Promotes calls for employer proposals to be part of the program and assists in reviewing and evaluating proposals
  • Supports the administration of employer and youth onboarding
  • Supports the administration of program evaluation activities
  • Leads the submission of participant information to the funder
  • Participates in regular project partner meetings and communication
  • Participates in and provide support to youth and employer engagement activities
  • Participates in weekly Engagement Team huddles and supports CCEDNet’s broader communications and engagement activities when needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with the following web-based tools is essential: spreadsheets (Excel/Google Sheets), email (Gmail)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; English/French bilingualism an asset
  • Experience working with youth, Indigenous peoples and/or vulnerable populations an asset
  • Experience with the following web-based tools and activities would be an asset: email marketing (MailChimp), social media (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Hootsuite), online file storage (Google Drive), videoconferencing (Zoom), and mail merge.
  • Understanding the landscape of community economic development and social innovation in Canada an asset
  • Resourcefulness, flexibility, and creativity
  • Detail-oriented, professional, and analytical; self-starting with equal willingness to collaborate and to take direction
  • Curiosity and a love of perpetual learning, with the ability to prioritize and a good sense of humour

Location:  While we continue to work remotely through the pandemic, preference will be given to candidates located in Ottawa to allow for in-person meetings between the Director of Engagement and the Program and Engagement Manager. Our office is located with the Mauril-Bélanger Social Innovation Atelier at St. Paul's University in Old Ottawa East, uniquely situated along Pasapkedjinawong, the Anishinàbemowin name for the Rideau River, which means “the river that passes between the rocks.

Compensation:  This is a full time (37.5 hours/week) term position starting as soon as possible and ending March 31, 2023 with possibility of renewal. Base salary is $25.88 - $29.69/hour, adjusted for regional cost of living variances.
