This report draws together information from all of the research projects conducted as part of the Manitoba Research Alliance on Community Economic Development in the New Economy. It includes sections on; a profile on Winnipeg’s inner city and Aboriginal community, a definition of the New Economy and its impact on disadvantaged urban communities and a definition of CED that includes the impacts of government policy and Aboriginal participation in urban CED organizations. It then discusses government/policy support for urban CED, urban business planning and development, urban CED opportunities and what is needed to realize those opportunities. It concludes with policy recommendations and a summary of key findings. The report also includes a bibliography of selected MRA reports used for this kit.
