Futures in Newfoundland and Labrador's Youth (FINALY) is seeking an enthusiastic, positive, and skilled individual to join our team as our Communications Coordinator.  This position will be located in our St. John's office.  FINALY is the only youth driven, youth serving agency in Newfoundland and Labrador.  This non-profit organization is led by youth and exists to serve youth.  The organization's mandate is to engage youth from all areas of the province in projects and initiatives that promote social and economic development.  FINALY also strives to promote the achievements of young people and works to connect youth across the province.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Membership Services, including: Coordinating our quarterly newsletter Catch A Wave, maintaining our website, and other membership communications, such as our Facebook group. 
  • Outreach, including: Presentations to youth at schools, career fairs and other events to promote FINALY and increase membership and enhancing partnerships with like-minded organizations, such as other youth-focused groups and RED Boards. 
  • Special Projects, including: Helping coordinate special events, such as our annual Leadership Summit, supporting the work of our other employees across the island, and working on cool projects in the areas of Youth Mentorship and Workplace Safety for Youth.
  • Public and Media Relations, including: Responding to general inquires, coordinating advertising, coordinating all aspects of media relations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Undergraduate degree in a related field, combined with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • Demonstrated experience in writing and editing for both online and print publications;
  • Demonstrated experience in publication layout and working with graphics (using Publisher, Photoshop, and Acrobat or similar programs;
  • Solid working knowledge of Front Page and HTML;
  • Technological savvy in areas of social networking and online distribution methods;
  • Event and project management experience;
  • Top notch organizational skills.
Compensation: 
A salary range of $35,000-$38,000 per annum
