Core Neigbhourhood Youth Co-op is seeking a dynamic and skilled Executive Director, to fill a one year Maternity Leave position. CNYC requires a strong, energetic leader who believes in the youth of the core neighborhoods and has the skills and abilities to work with, support and inspire them.

Core Neighbourhood Youth Co-op (CNYC) strives to empower at-risk youth by providing them with innovative skill training, part time employment, and cultural and recreational opportunities. Youth work towards completing their high school education as well as learning skills such as woodworking that they can use towards gaining employment in the community.

Operational planning and management

Program planning and management

Human resources planning and management

Financial planning and management

Community relations/advocacy

Risk management

Education: University Degree or equivalent education and experience

Knowledge, skills and abilities:

-Experience leading and/or managing a non-profit, cooperative, or voluntary organization

-Knowledge and understanding of all federal and provincial legislation applicable to voluntary sector organizations including: employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, charities, taxation, CPP, EI, health coverage etc...

-Awareness and understanding of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization

-Human resources management experience

-Financial management experience

-Project management experience

-Proficient in web-based research and communication proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and accounting/ business management software

Experience: 2 - 3 years of progressive management experience in a voluntary sector organization

Working Conditions:
The Executive Director is expected to work a standard work week, but additionally will often work evening, weekends, and overtime hours to accommodate activities such as Board meetings and representing the organization at public events.
