CCEDNet is looking for a full-time bilingual CED Assistant based at our regional office in Toronto, Ontario. This position is funded in part by the government of Canada and, as such, the following criteria applies:
Criteria for candidates include:
• between the ages of 15 and 30 inclusively at the time of selection
• a Canadian citizen, or a permanent resident, or a protected person within the meaning of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
• legally entitled to work in Canada
• legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial and/or territorial legislation and regulations
• out of school
• a post-secondary college or university graduate
• not receiving Employment Insurance benefits
• can demonstrate a lack of labour market attachment to field of study (under-employed or unemployed)
• can demonstrate that working in the field of community economic development is a career goal
• has not previously participated in a Service Canada Career Focus work experience placement
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Ontario Regional Coordinator and the National Program Director, the CED Assistant is responsible for:
• Managing CCEDNet’s membership database
• Initiating and executing new members’ recruitment campaigns
• Coordinating CCEDNet’s outreach work
• Developing a member relations strategy
• Handling public inquiries
• Managing group emails
• Managing CCEDNet’s website
• Managing CCEDNet’s donor campaign
• Providing administrative support, logistics and communications to the Executive Director, the Board of Directors and committees for special events and meetings
• Providing administrative support, logistics and communications to the National Conference Coordinator
• Managing office filing systems (paper and electronic)
• Manage office equipment and supplies
• Liaise with vendors and suppliers
The CED Assistant is expected to:
• Be committed to providing excellent services to CCEDNet’s members
• Provide administrative assistance to the National Conference Coordinator
• Work closely with all CCEDNet’s staff, members, partners and stakeholders
QUALIFICATIONS
• Post-secondary education in a related field of study
• Proficiency in written and spoken English and French
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Proficiency in managing websites
• Experience working in non-profits or community-based organizations
• Experience working in an office environment
• Knowledge of community economic development theory and practice
• Adaptable to a new fast-paced work environment
• Excellent organizational and administrative skills
• Positive attitude
• Ability to work in a team and independently
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Position based in Toronto
• Requires extensive computer use
• 35 hours per week - involves overtime work at peak periods
• Salary is $15 an hour
• Some travel may be required
