Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor/Facilitator (Two year term with possibility of extension) Anticipated start date: January 12, 2009. Opportunities For Employment is a private, faith-based, non-profit organization. Our mission is to assist adults achieve self-sufficiency through full-time, long-term employment. As part of our growth, under the new OFE Stages of Change project, to assess and enhance the work readiness of persons with a disability, we are currently seeking to hire a full-time Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor/Facilitator. The Vocational Rehabilitation Counsellor/Facilitator is required to deliver Stages of Change programming in individual and group settings. The position includes the responsibilities of intake assessment, group facilitation and one-on-one motivational interviewing. The VR Counsellor/Facilitator will demonstrate high levels of flexibility and creativity and be able to organize and prioritize their responsibilities effectively on a daily basis.


Qualifications

Applicants must have superior facilitating, motivational interviewing (counselling), communication, decision-making, and organizational skills. Knowledge of vocational and psychological assessment tools and vocational rehabilitation principles and practices is required. Experience in case management for persons with a disability is an asset. Experience working with persons with mental health disabilities and co-occurring disorders in a counseling role is essential. Knowledge of the Stages of Change (Transtheoretical Model of Change) is desired. A bachelor's degree in rehabilitation counseling or a related field such as psychology or social work is required. A RRP or CCRC designation is preferred. A minimum of two years of experience applying the elements of motivational interviewing in a counseling setting is desired.
