Position Summary
The Facility/Program Manager (the manager) is accountable to the Board of Directors of the Centre, and is responsible for day-to-day facility operations and to assist in the development and delivery of programs to members. This involves the direct supervision of paid staff as well as adult and youth volunteers. The manager works closely with committee or board members in charge of program development and delivery.
This is a full time salaried position. This position generally works Monday through Friday from 12:00pm to 8:00pm. There will be some weekend work required and there may also be a requirement to attend meetings, conferences, etc. outside these hours.
The position will be subject to the completion of a satisfactory three-month probationary period, and annual performance evaluations thereafter.
Duties
- To develop a comprehensive set of recreation programs to meet the needs of the community.
- To provide leadership in the development of new programs as required.
- To support and assist the children and youth of the community in creating a positive and respectful environment in which they can participate and enjoy the programs available
- Responsible for all staffing issues included by not limited to; scheduling, payroll reporting, program instruction...
- Attends all meetings of the board, and any committees which require direct involvement.
- Works with the board to develop operating policies and procedures for the Centre.
- Works in conjunction with the board to schedule and oversee work done in the Centre by outside contractors.
- Ensures all grounds including basketball courts and rink are safe and well maintained on a daily basis.
- To liaise and develop relationships with Community partners, residents and other groups who can assist in the development of the Centre.
Qualifications
- Experience in recreational program development / delivery
- Knowledge of Community Development principals and application.
- Basic safety and first-aid practices.
- Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and various software packages as required.
- Methods and techniques of effective technical, administrative, and financial record keeping, report preparation, and presentation.
All staff and volunteers of the Ralph Brown Community Centre must submit to criminal record and child-abuse registry checks.
