The Kootenay Aboriginal Business Advocate Society is a provincially incorporated society dedicated to providing business advice, support and technical assistance to Aboriginal persons (First Nations, Metis and Inuit) residing within the East and West Kootenays in regards to small business exploration, development and operations.

5 days per week (35 hrs)
6 month position with possibility of extension

Duties Include:

  • Delivery of business advisory services for Aboriginal individuals and organizations.
  • One on one support and assistance to clients in the development and operations of entrepreneurial activities.
  • Assisting clients with feasibility studies, business plans, marketing strategies, develop policies and procedures or expansion plans.
  • Pre-lending advisory services to enhance the business knowledge, ability and awareness of entrepreneurial activities.
  • Post-lending business management and advisory services.
  • Referrals to resources appropriate to the client's needs.
  • Familiarity with client confidentiality
  • Performing Presentations & Workshops

Qualifications:

  • A minimum business administration diploma and at least three years of related work experience or equivalent experience.
  • A good working knowledge of business plans, marketing plans, feasibility studies and other related documents.
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.
  • Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Reliable vehicle and the ability to travel on a regular basis throughout the service area.
  • Excellent computer skills.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture.
