Ka Ni Kanichihk Inc. is a non profit, community based; Aboriginal led human services organization that provides a range of Aboriginal identified programs and services that focus on wholeness and wellness and that builds on the strengths and resilience of Aboriginal Peoples.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years experience working in the Aboriginal community with youth or a combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid driver’s license with a clear driver’s abstract and access to a vehicle will be considered an asset. Applicant must provide a criminal record and child abuse registry check. A previous criminal record will not eliminate candidates from the competition.
The successful candidate will:
- Review, revise and co-facilitate the delivery of both the Life Skills and Aboriginal Awareness curriculum for youth.
- Provide case management and crisis counseling for youth
- Possess excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
- Relate to Aboriginal youth and be a positive role model
- Appreciate and possess a working knowledge and for both traditional and western healing disciplines
- Have knowledge of community based resources and how to access those services available to youth.
- Hours of work for this position will remain flexible to meet the required needs of the youth. The position will require program delivery in the evening to promote the youth’s attendance in school.
