You are here

Our client, the Native Council of Nova Scotia (NCNS), is seeking a senior-level professional who will execute the Council's Economic & Business Development Strategy as its Economic Development Officer.

Reporting to the Chief and President of NCNS, you will contribute to the strengthening of the organization, the sustainable expansion of its revenue base, the development of Aboriginal human capital, and creation of positive community economic development across Nova Scotia. Your realm of responsibilities will include economic and business development, research, government and industry relations, promotions and marketing, and administration.

As the ideal candidate, you are a seasoned professional with extensive experience in business development, management, operations, financing and human resources. You are accustomed to providing strategic advice to senior decision makers about business opportunities and risks. Your years of relevant work experience provide you with extensive knowledge of the economy and market opportunities in Atlantic Canada, including labour market trends and needs.

In addition to your proven results-driven success stories, you also have demonstrated strong team building skills, and bring to the table a wide range of resources and contacts. You likely possess a degree in business administration, community economic development or public administration. Alternatively, you hold a professional accounting designation (CA, CMA or CGA). Having worked with not-for-profit boards of directors, you are sensitive to political issues and understand that diverse points of view are a must for your success in this role.
