The Manitoba Cooperative Association (MCA) Inc. is a provincial association of cooperative organizations, created by its members to enhance and support the development of a united, growing and influential cooperative movement in Manitoba.
Since 1985, MCA has been providing learning opportunities for young people through the Co-op Youth Leadership (CY) program. The CY program offers exciting opportunities to develop leadership skills, and learn about cross cultural issues and values affecting society, co-ops, community development, and global development all in a beautiful camp setting.
Position Overview
We are looking for a youth program intern who will help MCA diversify its CY program by working in partnership with a number of community organizations. In conjunction with MCA staff, the youth program intern will develop a work plan that will outline the means by which to engage more young people in the CY program. This includes networking with existing CY sponsors, developing partnerships with other youth programs, and encouraging more coops and credit unions to become engaged in the CY program. In addition the youth program intern would be actively involved in revising and strengthening the communication and promotion strategy for the CY program.
As part of the Canadian CED Network's CreateAction CED Work Experience Program, the youth program intern will have the opportunity to participate in a minimum of 6 hours per week of peer learning activities. Additionally, the youth program intern will participate in monthly conference calls and 3 days of training with other CreateAction interns from across Canada.
