INTERNSHIP QUALIFICATIONS
This program is funded by Service Canada and its intention is to give out-of-school post-graduate youth (15-30 years) who have a career focus in CED a relevant six-month work experience placement. Applicants must be Canadian citizens or legally entitled to work in Canada. Applicants must not be in receipt of Employment Insurance and must be unemployed or employed outside of their field of study. This placement is fully subsidized by the Canadian CED Network. This position will provide an hourly wage of $14.50 with an average work week of 30 hours.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
One of CCEDNet's Strategic Plan objectives is to increase the share of unrestricted revenue over the next three years period, building on an initial scan of options identified by the Network's Sustainability Committee.
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Administration, the Sustainability Researcher will advance that priority by carrying out research and planning activities that support the evaluation of opportunities to increase unrestricted revenue.
The Sustainability Researcher is expected to:
• Provide assistance to CCEDNet's Sustainability Committee, including its mandate to identify and evaluate opportunities to diversify CCEDNet's revenue streams in ways that advance the Network's mission.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Sustainability Researcher will be responsible for:
• Supporting the design and execution of market research studies of CCEDNet's membership or other market segments of interest.
• Researching existing innovative revenue generating models of product or service delivery that could be transferable to CCEDNet or its membership
• Carrying out or supporting the development of feasibility studies or business planning for models of interest.
• Providing support to CCEDNet's Sustainability Committee in its advisory role for CCEDNet's sustainability efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Post-secondary education in a related field of study with emphasis in research, business administration or equivalent
• Demonstrated research and writing skills
• Excellent oral and written skills
• Experience working in non-profits or community-based organisations
• Experience working in an office environment
• Familiarity with community economic development and/or the social economy
• Adaptable to a new fast-paced work environment
• Excellent organizational and administrative skills
• Positive attitude
• Ability to meet deadlines
• Ability to work in a team and independently
• Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
• Bilingualism (English, French) is an asset
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Position based at CCEDNet's office in Ottawa, ON
• Requires extensive computer use
• 30 hours per week - possible overtime work at peak periods
• Salary is $14.50 an hour with statutory benefits
• Some travel may be required
