Qualifications

  • Training and/or experience in adult education
  • Knowledge of the work of the Community Ministry and/or the community it serves would be an asset
  • Training and/or experience in volunteer recruitment, training and support

Job Description

  • Recruit and train volunteer pastoral care teams of 2-3 people to staff each Drop-In (Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday)
  • Recruit and train volunteer pastoral care teams of 2-3 people for both the Monday and Friday Food Supplement Programs
  • Recruit and train 2 administrative volunteers
  • Develop job descriptions for these volunteers
  • Develop policies and procedures for these volunteer positions
  • Develop protocols for reporting, communication, supervision, evaluation and appreciation
  • Identify knowledge, skills, abilities and motivations required to fulfill these volunteer roles
  • Assess potential risks for volunteer positions and address with appropriate screening protocols and by identifying training needs
  • Orient volunteers to the Community Ministry
  • Arrange for volunteer orientation and training
  • Identify necessary community resources and back-up personnel
  • Arrange for workshops and/or outside expertise (e.g. first aid/CPR, mental illness awareness, conflict resolution, non-violent crisis intervention etc.)

Compensation: 
Up to $30.00 per hour (including benefits); 12 hours per week for a period of 22 weeks
