The Village of Harrison is a provincially sanctioned destination resort, and tourism provides the economic base for the municipality. Events have been recognized as a positive economic generator resulting in increased overnight stays. Key stakeholders including political leaders are anxious to develop a strategy to increase tourism through events. The newly formed Economic Development Commission (EDC) has prioritized this objective as its main short term goal. The municipality is committed to providing funds towards this objective. The EDC Advisory Committee will provide direction and oversee the implementation of the strategies. The Harrison Festival Society would be the contract holder from the Village and report to the EDC Advisory Committee. As the organization has years of experience in the planning and delivery of events and has developed many community partnerships over the years, it is deemed as the best fit to take on the project.
