Job Description:

  • 1  year term position (January – December 2011)
  • Full-time, 37.5 hours per week, with occasional overtime.
  • M-F, 9:00am – 5:00pm (occasional evenings and weekends)

The Food Connections Coordinator (FCC) is primarily responsible for operating the Food Connections Project at WFP. This project includes a pre-employment program and catering business. The FCC works closely with the participants in the pre-employment program, teaching and supporting them as they learn job skills and pursue employment in the workforce.


Responsibilities:

  • Facilitating and organizing pre-employment program. Includes, but is not limited to, hiring and training contract staff, supporting and leading contract staff, making schedules, documenting progress of various programs, conducting assessments, applying for grants.
  • Sourcing and shopping for catering program, community store, and various other programs. Includes heavy lifting at times.
  • Organizing a small community garden in the spring.


Qualifications:

  • Eligible applicants must be self-motivated with a strong work ethic and a passion for people and with time management and organization skills.
  • A passion for food as well as knowledge of ideas surrounding topics such as food security and sustainable food practices would be an asset.
  • The successful applicant will be a person who is patient, compassionate, approachable and professional.
  • Food Handling experience and a valid Food Handler’s certificate would be an asset.
  • Position requires heavy lifting, long periods working on your feet and familiarity with computer programs such as MS Word and Excel.
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle required.
