The Manitoba office of the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives seeks a researcher to fill a two-year term position.
Position Summary
The position’s principal responsibilities will be research related. Other duties will include assistance applying for research grants, community presentations, and collaboration with CCPA’s community partners in various policy related events and activities.
Closing date for applications: December 1, 2010
Starting date: January 1, 2011
Salary Range: $45,000 - $50,000 plus benefits
Qualifications and Skills
- University degree in the social sciences or a related field;
- Strong research and writing skills;
- Experience conducting research with an emphasis on community based participatory research;
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
- Dedicated to research and advocacy toward social and economic justice with an interest in research related to urban poverty, community development and inner-city issues.
- Experience writing grant proposals and funding applications an asset;
- Outstanding attention to detail and inter-personal skills;
Experience working with a non-profit organization is desirable, and knowledge of Manitoba public policies is an asset. The successful candidate should share a commitment to CCPA’s social justice mandate. The person hired for the position should feel comfortable working in a small office with a team environment that requires flexibility. The CCPA is a unionized workplace.
