New Journey Housing:

New Journey Housing is a not-for-profit housing resource centre for Newcomers to Canada. New Journey Housing trains, assists and supports Newcomers to Canada and those who support them, through the process of attaining and retaining decent, affordable housing in Winnipeg.

Receptionist Job Requirements:

• Providing basic assistance to clients, and helping to create a hospitable workplace atmosphere.
• Welcoming clients at New Journey Housing, and answering questions about NJH, housing or other referral services.
• Computer work, typing and research.
• Scheduling and managing office activities.
• Making phone calls or sending e-mails to other service agencies or landlords, as a way of supporting NJH clients.
• Ability to work and communicate well with clients who are Newcomers to Canada, as well as New Journey Housing staff and volunteers.
• Ability to work independently, as well as cooperatively in a group setting.
• Ability to problem-solve with initiative.
   

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma is a requirement.
• Post-secondary degree is an asset, with related work experience.
• Ability to use computers (typing, on-line research, managing e-mails, etc.) and photocopier/fax machine.
• Organizational and managerial skills, with an ability to take on administrative assistant duties.
• Ability to multi-task.
• Experience working with Newcomers to Canada is an asset.
• Fluent in English, as well as an additional language(s) – Please describe in resume.
• Genuine interest in helping Newcomers to Canada and working cross-culturally.
• Interest in housing, housing issues, housing policy, etc. Experience as a tenant and/or homeowner is an asset – please describe in resume.
   

Hours and Start Date:

• The RECEPTIONIST employment position is a part-time position (expected to be 20 hours/week)
• Wage is commensurate to applicable experience.
