ACCA Job Description
Alberta Community and Co-operative Association (ACCA) is currently accepting applications for a CreateAction Work Experience Program Intern position that starts January 4th. The focus of this three month placement will be on developing a mix of marketing and communications tools for ACCA and the Alberta Co-operative Youth Leadership Program. Work Term: January 4, 2011 to March 31, 2011
Details: $15.00 per hour, 40 hours per week
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Design, write and edit content for new ACCA website, newsletter and marketing material
- Redesign and update the ACCA Membership Directory
- Identify Alberta co-operative sector and community “key messages” and develop a communications campaign for ACCA
- Assist with communications regarding the elder care project and environmental issues such as the green energy movement.
- Create ideas and templates that ACCA member organizations could use during Co-op Week
- Assist with developing and implement new marketing strategies surrounding the ACCA
Co-operative Youth Program and profile success stories of the youth program participants - Participation in peer learning and skills development activities with other CreateAction participants
- Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong experience with the following:
- Excellent organizational abilities, time management skills and the ability to multitask
- Developing and successfully implementing communications and marketing strategies
- The ability to work independently as well as be part of a team
- Strong communication skills – both written and oral
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office applications is necessary
- Maturity and professionalism, energy and enthusiasm
- Knowledge of the co-operative sector in Alberta would be an asset
- Passion for co-operatives and youth education
Criteria / Qualifications:
- Between the ages of 15 and 30 inclusively at the time of selection
- a Canadian citizen, a permanent resident, or a protected person within the meaning of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- legally entitled to work in Canada
- legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial and/or territorial legislation and regulations
- out-of-school
- a post-secondary college or university graduate
- not receiving Employment Insurance benefits
- can demonstrate a lack of labor market attachment to field of study (under-employed or unemployed)
- can demonstrate that working in the field of community economic development is a career goal
- has not previously participated in a Career Focus work experience placement
