The Manitoba Eco-Network is a registered charitable organization serving as an umbrella for non-profit, non-governmental environmental groups in Manitoba, and welcoming individual and associate memberships. Our mandate is to promote positive environmental action in communities through education, facilitation and celebration.
Job Description:
Manitoba Eco-Network is seeking a dynamic, energetic and environmentally-committed individual to fill the full time position of Coordinator. The coordinator’s role is multi-faceted in a busy office situated in the EcoCentre. Tasks include:
- Event planning including scheduling, publicity, outreach, follow-up (eg. Film Festival; Rain Barrel sale; workshops and special events);
- Management of day-to-day communications and information requests, including electronic, in-person, telephone and mail;
- Membership services including monthly electronic bulletin to member groups and to individuals, renewals, charitable receipts, Annual Appeal, event and opportunity promotion;
- Liaison with the IT systems Manager, managing the website, calendar and social media;
- Supervision of the Library Resource Assistant, and providing support to Eco-Network projects;
- Coordinating the Eco-Volunteer program and co-ordination of MEN volunteers;
- Co-ordination of EcoCentre functions;
- Assistance with Eco-Journal including collation of calendar events; soliciting, and confirmation of ads; coordinating mail-out duties;
The Coordinator reports to the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:
- Post secondary degree in environmental studies or related discipline;
- Excellent oral and written communication skills;
- Well developed IT and social media skills, including web page writing and update; knowledge of database applications; and familiarity with general office applications;
- Strong knowledge of ecological principles;
- Awareness of current environmental issues;
- Demonstrated experience in event planning and coordination;
- Ability to supervise staff and volunteers;
- Outgoing, friendly approach;Ability to work both independently and in a team, and be able to manage several tasks simultaneously;
- The ability to communicate in both English and French is an asset.
