People, Power, Planet: Showcasing Community-Owned Renewable Energy in Canada

People, Power, Planet: Showcasing Community-Owned Renewable Energy in Canada5:30pm to 8:00pm
St. David’s United Church
3303 Capitol Hill Crescent NW Calgary, AB T2M 2R2

Please join us at the wrap-up event of a research project called “People, Power, Planet (PPP): Best Practices and Knowledge Mobilization in Community Energy Development” about experiences and lessons of Community Energy across Canada and beyond. The PPP research project, a joint initiative by York University and TREC Renewable Energy Co-operative, was formed to assess, document and share the experiences and lessons of community energy developments across Canada and beyond, with the goal of increasing the level of awareness and rate of implementation of such projects nation-wide. Community Energy is considered economically positive and, increasingly, socially necessary en route to a sustainable energy future. Projects can also help communities address local economic and social needs.

At this free event, you will get an opportunity to:

  1. Learn about Community Energy and how to be involved in a community-owned renewable energy project
  2. Find out challenges and opportunities for Community Energy in Canada
  3. Meet Community Energy developers in Calgary and the wider Alberta
  4. Network with community members, professionals and academics with experience in this sustainable energy model.

RSVP by emailing aceeducators at me.com

Refreshments will be provided. The PPP Reception is part of the co-operative education conference held at the Congress of Humanities and Social Sciences, held this year at the University of Calgary. Learn more at www.ace.coop
