About the Facilitator:

David Alexander will be joining us from Everdale Organic Farm and Environmental Learning Centre based in Guelph, Ontario. David’s main duty at Everdale is the facilitator of the award-winning Farmers Growing Farmers planning course. Previous to Everdale, David was the head of the science department at a small private high school in Toronto. He brings a strong background in curriculum development and content delivery to the program.

Why Should I Take This Workshop?

We are excited to be able to offer this workshop, and we're confident that you'll get a lot out of it. Here's just a few things you can expect:

  • Learn from David Alexander and Everdale's experience of helping over 60 new farmers establish businesses
  • Explore various aspects of farm planning including business models, finances, record keeping, risk management, and more
  • Get all the tools you need to start working on a business plan if you don't already have one
  • See real-life examples from functioning farms in Manitoba and Ontario
  • Leave with useful resources to refer to after the workshop

We allow the option to attend one session if you can't make it to both. However, the workshop is designed as a single unit, and attending only one day will mean missing out on part of the farm planning picture, as well as the subsidized rate.

About the Cost:

We are including the option of a subsidized fee for those who attend both days because this is a pilot workshop that will help us develop our own local business planning course. The workshop will cater to paying participants, but you will be learning alongside farmers who are training to teach the content some day. Register by Wednesday, April 11th to take advantage of this reduced rate!

Not sure what rate to pay? If you've got time but not a lot of money, complete our Passing on the Gift agreement form (Word or PDF) to get the subsidized $75 rate. If paying $225 up front is less stressful for you than volunteering your time, the full fee is still within our reasonable cost-recovery range.

Register

Space is limited, so be sure to register by Wednesday, April 4th. The deadline has been extended to Wednesday, April 11th. After this date, we will no longer be offering the subsidized $75 registration fee.

1. Complete the Online Registration Form

2. Send us your workshop fee using your preferred payment method:
