The COVID-19 pandemic is a huge challenge for financial institutions. In the current environment, where the cash flow of many consumers and businesses is collapsing due to lack of demand and numerous layoffs, financial institutions will both have to deal with the increased demand for non-performing loans and expose themselves to the risk of default by borrowers, who will have difficulty paying interest and repaying the principal.
