Join us for Weaving Indigenous Wellbeing, Research and Ethics: Community and Campus Perspectives in Canada.

The webinar will feature the work and vision of four Indigenous leaders working in community-campus engagement. Two Professors from Saskatchewan and British Columbia and two community leaders from the National Association of Friendship Centres in Ottawa will focus on ethical research, Indigenous knowledges, equitable partnerships and how higher education and other Canadian allies can collectively support Indigenous community health and well being. They will explore the challenges they face, opportunities for the future, and specific recommendations for policy, funding, culture, and program changes.

Summer Community Cook

The Summer Community Cook role focuses on enabling community members to develop and share their cooking skills through our Meals-on-Wheels volunteering opportunities, workshops and other activities in the kitchen. They will also play a strong role in kitchen components of the Roulant's social entrepreneurship initiatives. The chosen candidate will work in close collaboration with Kitchen Co-Managers who shares responsibility for the Meals-on-Wheels program, the staff members of the Kitchen Committee and the broader community.

Communications Coordinator

Working with staff members across the organisation, the Communications Coordinator will maintain and develop a variety of communication strategies to creatively tell our stories to a diversity of audiences through print, online and other media. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to engage with all facets of our work to engage and inspire our community, amplify our voice and increase the impact of our work across each of our program areas.

Cando 26th Annual National Conference & AGM

Cando (Council for the Advancement of Native Development Officers) is a federally registered, non-profit society that is Aboriginal controlled, community based, and membership driven. Cando is directed by a national regionally represented volunteer board of elected EDOs representing every region of Canada.

Cando has been instrumental in facilitating partnerships with EDOs, academics, Aboriginal leaders and senior corporate and government representatives. Cando is unique because it is the only national organization that focuses on education and professional development for EDOs working in Aboriginal communities or organizations.

This Worker Co-op Summit will be an unparalleled opportunity for learning, networking, and being inspired -  aimed at members of co-ops associated with CWCF and/or the three Quebec worker co-op federations:  the Quebec " Reseau COOP" or Network of Worker Co-operation, as well as the Federation of Paramedic Cooperatives of Quebec and the Quebec Federation of Forestry Co-ops. 

Highlights include:

  • Sessions of practical interest to worker co-operators, with a focus on Governance issues in worker co-ops
  • Video of Keynote Presentation by Noam Chomsky (!!!)
  • Presentation  by US FWC Executive Director Esteban Kelly  
  • Roll-out of CWCF's exciting new Strategic Plan.

Simultaneous interpretation, French and English, will be provided.  

This Summit will take place on the day before the start of the Congress of Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada (CMC) (https://canada.coop/en/events/cmc-congress-2019-quebec-city), on June 18-20, also in Quebec City.  We encourage people to consider attending both events.   

We will seek to secure accommodations in both a nearby hotel and at a university residence.  More details will follow in the near future.  In the meantime, if you are interested, please mark your calendars!
