Brandon University has been awarded a 7-year, $2.5 M SSHRC Partnership grant to support rural policy and its implementation.
Multiple global crises and heightened concerns about the social and environmental consequences of economic growth and liberalization have reignited interest in alternative production and consumption patterns, and ways of organizing enterprise activities. In recent years, considerable attention has focused on Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE).

On September 15, Canada's National Advisory Board to the Social Impact Investment Taskforce will be launching their report highlighting Canada's priorities for Mobilizing Private Capital for Public Good, in Toronto.
This new report from Good Jobs First offers policy recommendations to reduce job poaching, sprawl, and loss of public resources induced by intra-regional competition. Through tax-base sharing and institutionalization of procedures of cooperation, neighboring localities can expand resources available for public goods, such as education, from which the entire region can profit.
