On Friday November 28th, 2008, the 6th Annual Community Development and Community Economic Development Gathering was held at St. John's High School, in Winnipeg, Manitoba. The Gathering was organized in order to provide a free professional development, service learning, and networking opportunity for staff of community organizations, non-profit agencies, civil servants, representatives from funding organizations, active community organizations, seniors, aboriginal, and newcomer organizations, neighbourhood resident associations, students, academics, consultants, and individual residents of Winnipeg and rural Manitoba who were interested in community development and community economic development.

Given the multidisciplinary nature of community development and community economic development, the Gathering housed a wide assortment of stakeholders interested in community development activities and initiatives. Planning and implementing an event for such a dynamic audience was a truly unique and much appreciated undertaking for all parties involved.
