This document is part of a larger research project conducted by the Pan-Canadian Community Economic Development Learning Network, which is itself part of CCEDNet.

CED is a strategy for intervening and taking reponsibility within a community which is based around the knowledge of the individuals involved and on the forces at play wtihin an environment at any one time. In this document we present two tools which will enable CED practitioners to inform themselves about the social conditions and changes within their environment and among the population that they serve. These tools are indicators and mapping.
