What is Social Enterprise?
A social enterprise is a business with primarily social objectives whose surpluses are reinvested for that purpose in the business or in the community, rather than being driven by the need to deliver profit to shareholders and owners.
After the success of our first speakers series, the Manitoba CED Network has invited two more excellent presenters to come to Winnipeg and talk to us about social enterprise* in newcomer communities. Please join us Saturday March 29th at IRCOM House to hear inspiring and informative stories from two people who have done pioneering work using social enterprise to meet the needs of newcomers in Canada.
Social Enterprise Speakers:
Yvonne Chui - Multi-Cultural Health Brokers Co-op, Edmonton Centre for Newcomers
Gulalai Habib - Malalay Afghan Women's Sewing Co-op, Immigrant Social Services BC
This session is intended to be for ethno-cultural organizations, newcomers and anyone interested in social enterprise.
Venue:
IRCOM House, 95 Ellen at Bannatyne
